Specialty Veterinary Services for Your Pocatello Pets

BAMC offers specialty testing services for pets that many other veterinary clinics don’t offer. Many of these specialized veterinary testing services generally require being referred somewhere else by your pet’s doctor. These are just some of those specialized medical tests for pets that are offered by BAMC:

Chronic Kidney Failure

Your pet needs to have kidney function panel testing around every 3-6 months. If your pet has a history of kidney issues, your vet may recommend being tested more often.

Hyperthyroid AKA Overactive Thyroid

Pets need to get blood pressure and thyroid levels tested about every 4-6 months. The same rule applies for complete blood count tests, which can be very helpful with detecting many medical issues during the early stages.

Cherry Eye

Sometimes, the gland of your pet’s third eyelid will prolapse (fall down). It will appear to be a reddened mass to the human eye. The gland may begin to swell, stopping your pet’s blood from circulating properly. We perform the test needed to diagnose the problem without referring you out to another facility.

Canine Parvovirus (CPV) Infection AKA Parvo

Parvo is a treacherous viral infection. All unvaccinated puppies and adult dogs are at risk. This disease is extremely dangerous. Without treatment, it can be fatal, leading to death. According to veterinary statistics on canine parvovirus, vets believe that 85% of dogs affected by parvo under less than a year old. The most severe cases of parvo generally occur with puppies under 12 weeks old.
